1.epidemic  [epɪdemɪk]

adj. 流行的；传染性的n. 传染病；流行病；风尚等的流行

A flu epidemic is sweeping through Moscow. 一场流感正席卷莫斯科。

2. equality [ɪkwɒlɪtɪ]

n. 平等；相等；[数] 等式

The new law provided for equality of human rights.  新法律规定人人有平等的权利。

3. equipment [ɪkwɪpm(ə)nt]

n. 设备，装备；器材

We left our equipment out that night.  那天晚上我们把设备放在了外面。

4. equivalent [ɪkwɪv(ə)l(ə)nt]

adj. 等价的，相等的；同意义的n. 等价物，相等物

If they want to change an item in the budget, they will have to propose equivalent cuts elsewhere.

The two things are the same in outward form but different in essence.  这两样东西表面相同， 但实质不同。
